The COVID Effect

As representatives of commercial interiors manufacturers, our team members are asked daily by our customers: “How are you doing?” or “What is the state of the industry?” or “How is (insert partner here) going to get through this?” These are all great questions and luckily for the IOS team, the companies we represent have product portfolio’s so great and so diverse that we haven’t had to put all of our eggs in one basket. For example, while the commercial market is understandably sluggish, our higher education and K12 projects are still steady and keeping us busy!

Adaptability is KEY.

To further that point, it has been amazing to see our largest partners adapt with both speed and efficiency to this new world order; Takeform is releasing new COVID-related product solutions almost daily, Pallas is focusing on its performance fabric lines, and KI is leaning on the Infinity team to create innovative COVID solutions. Additionally, our partners have learned lessons from difficult periods in history—most notably, the Great Recession of 2008—and are well equipped to handle the financial hardships we are now facing. This diversification of product, company maturity, and financial foresight has instilled confidence in our team that we will get through this successfully!

The biggest unknown for us in the commercial interiors industry is how to move forward. No one really knows where we will be in three months and that can make answering that question difficult.
